Location Borovetz is the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria and the biggest ski centre, situated at 1350 m above the sea level, among venerable conifers, in the skirts of the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula ? Peak Mousala (2925 metres). The climate of the resort is temperate: the winter is mild with many snowfalls. Ski Facts Borovetz is located at 1350 above sea level (with the highest runs at 2600m), on the Northern slopes of Rila mountain. The resort has facilities for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon, ski-doo, etc, and has twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing. Its biathlon track is one of the best in Europe. Usually the slopes of Borovetz have permanent snow cover from December to April. There are ski runs available for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs. Runs are groomed to the highest standards. The ski runs of Borovetz are located in three different areas. Cross-country and biathlon tracks are located 2km away from the resort together with the cross-country tuition tracks. The runs for the ski jumps are 75m and 50m long and are serviced by a chair lift. New snow cannons for artificial snow are also provided in Borovetz. The ski patrol provides 24 hour emergency service.
