Over the past decade, Dublin has experienced an amazing change both economically and culturally. Although this means you will find the problems of any big city here, there still remains enough of the 'old' Dublin to enchant. The city is divided into two by the River Liffey and most of the major attractions are to be found on the south side.

Trinity College is Ireland's premier university. The grounds of the College are marvelous for exploring but Trinity does run organized tours for those less adventurous visitors. The Book of Kells is the focus of any trip to this university. The Book is a 1200- year old manuscript and is thought to be the oldest book in the world.

In recent years Dublin has become well known for its bars and fun social scene. The Temple Bar is a hub of lively activity and fun. Once dubbed 'Ibiza in the rain', this is a party zone every night of the year. This is not to say that Temple Bar is awash with party revelers - there are now trendy bars and cool boutiques to keep you amused and out of the bars.

Due to the recent surge in interest in Dublin, you will find it difficult to secure accommodation during July and August, when the city is at its busiest and the weather at its best. You can visit during the winter months to avoid the crowds, but the weather will be cold and bleak.
