The Avenue Inn is a traditional inn in the peaceful village of High Shincliffe, one mile from Durham city centre. Awarded two stars by the English Tourist Board, it offers quality ensuite accommodation and a friendly welcome. The Avenue Inn is ideally located for exploring the historic sites of Durham with its famous cathedral, castle and botanical gardens. Within an hour's drive of the Avenue Inn you can be walking on the moors, strolling on the beach or shopping till you drop. Apart from the Cathedral and Castle, there are many attractions in the area including Beamish Open Air Museum, Hadrian's Wall, Hamsterley Forest and the Metro Centre. There are many other attractions such as Raby Castle, Barnard Castle and Hamsterley Forest nearby. The inn has eight well-appointed bedrooms. Guests are made very welcome by the locals and you may have the chance to join in a weekly quiz night or a friendly darts and dominoes league.
