The hotel was a Coaching Inn in the 17th Century, and is renowned for its immense charm and character.
Each of the 24 bedrooms has been individually designed and furnished to keep the traditional style of the hotel. The rooms are bright and very well kept with all the facilities one would expect from a decent hotel.

The lobby and public areas are both very warm and welcoming. The ancient oak beams complement the rich fabrics and warm hues. There are real fires and deep armchairs giving a very homely feel.
The hotel is located in the old Market Square right in the heart of Oakham, the county town of Rutland; Britains smallest county. The A1 and the M1 are both within very easy reach.
