Restaurant: Restaurant / Dining Information: Marabu is the main restaurant. It has a large deck on the beach and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The view is spectacular and has a full panoramic view of all of Cabarete Bay. It's a perfect setting for lunch to watch the kitesurfers in action, and when the sun goes down, the white table clothes come out in preparation for some great Italian dining. Apart from Marabu, there are over twenty five other restaurants of different styles in and around Cabarete. All of them are within a ten minute walk from the Cabarete Lifestyle Resorts. Recreation: Recreation Information: In 2006 Cabarete was host to several Laser Sailing events including a regatta and a training session by the US Olympic team. Laser Gear is available to rent at the Bic Center, located in the center of Cabarete. Windsurfers have been coming to Cabarete for over 20 years for good wind and big swells. Almost all conditions exist in Cabarete. There is flat-water inside the reef and side shore wave sailing outside the reef. The wind usually starts soft and builds up in the afternoon. If you are windsurfer who has never been to Cabarete you must come. Ocean Dream is located on a section of beach in Cabarete called Bozos Beach. This is the best place to launch and land kites in Cabarete since the beach is very wide, more than 60 meters in some parts, so there is usually plenty of room to pump up your kite and layout your lines. Aside from the Ocean Dream-Bozo beach area Cabarete has several other excellent spots for kiteboarding including Kitebeach, Encuentro for 5 meter waves and La Boca, flat water where the river meets the ocean. Downwinders are very popular on the north coast because of the safety due to predictable winds and almost constant beach access along the north coast. 10 mile downwind trips of two hours in Cabarete are a must... There are two good golf courses near by, Playa Dorada, about a 40 minute drive and Playa Grande, about an hour drive. Plans are underway to build a golf course just down the street from Ocean Dream. Check back in 2007... Good snorkeling can be done in Sosua, about ten miles west of Cabarete. There you will also find several outfits who offer Scuba diving. There are many other local excursions such as hiking, repelling down waterfalls, climbing waterfalls, check with the local operators when you are in town.
