The Melia Merida Boutique Hotel is hosted inside two of the most important buildings of the historical centre of the city of Merida, in the Spanish region of Extremadura, a city declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1993. The Pacheco's Palace was built in 1802 and received visits from such illustrious guests as Queen Isabel II and her husband Francisco de Asis in 1879, King Alfonso XII in 1875 or King Alfonso XIII in 1905. These guests helped to increase the prestige of this magnificent palace, which includes also an Arab-style patio built at the beginning of the twentieth century under the orders of the distinguished owner, Carlos Pacheco. The second building, the Mendoza's Palace, is an ancient Medieval dwelling built on the foundations of a Roman construction, and has hosted the Hotel Emperatriz since 1960. It is a sober building combining a Renaissance facade with Gothic interiors and a patio with porticoes built in the 14th. Century with tiles coming from Talavera. This work of art now is our luxury hotel, with its 76 comfortable rooms and modern facilities which include a swimming pool, terrace, fitness centre and 8 meeting rooms for up to 200 guests.
