This is a well located hotel ideal for travelers that wish to be close to all of Portland's downtown attractions. The suites are large, well appointed and very comfortable. With separate rooms, it makes an ideal choice for families. (MC:2/05).
The hotel was originally built in 1912 and opened as the Historic Multnomah Hotel. The 8-story structure, which occupies an entire city block, offers retail space on ground level and separate parking garage across the street from the hotel's main entrance. The hotel and parking garage are listed on Portland's Historic Register.
All rooms are two-room suites featuring a living room area with dining table, sofa, television, club chair, microwave and refrigerator. The bedroom features either one king or two double beds and a television. Rooms have oversized windows and crown molding and are furnished with traditional furniture. The medium-sized bathrooms are well appointed with marble fixtures.
The on-site restaurant is located on the main level of the hotel and provides a casual yet stylish ambiance with a great variety of steak, seafood and chops. The bar offers a wide variety of local favorites such as Oregon Microbrews and Northwest wines with a fantastic happy hour menu selection.
The grand lobby was restored to its original grandeur in 1997 when the hotel reopened as the Embassy Suites. As its most memorable feature, this enormous lobby showcases high ceilings with an overlooking mezzanine area, marble pillars with gold leafing as well as an intricate pattern on the ceiling created by a master craftsmen in 1912. The colors and furnishings are warm and inviting. The lobby offers comfortable seating areas for intimate gatherings or for relaxing next to the fireplace or grand piano.
