Elite Stadshotellet Vaxjo is a classic hotel with contemporary comfort. The airport-bus stops just outside the door. Whether you arrive by car, rail or air, it is easy to get to the hotel. Car parking is available in the nearby square. The hotel has an exciting history that begins after the great fire in Vaxjo of 1840 when eighty farms in the city burned down and half of the population became homeless. Rebuilding plans for the city included a new town square and the residence of the county governor on the north side and the prison on the south side were demolished. The townspeople then built a beautiful town hall and an inn, designed by the architect, Theodor Ankarsvard. In 1852 the building was completed. In 1870 another building was built on Kungsgatan, which together with the older inn, formed the Vaxjo Stadshotel of today. At the turn of the century the town hall was also included in the hotel and in 1906 an extension was added. During the war it was rebuilt again and this is the hotel we see today.

The hotel is situated in the centre of town, only 50 metres from the railway station.
Restaurants: - Lagerlunden: The hotels modern restaurant is designed by Vaxjo architects Ib and Henrik Wibroe. Here we serve modern Swedish cuisine with its heart in Smalands food culture but we also use the international kitchen for inspiration. On our wine-list yuo can find many exciting wines from all corners of the world. Lagerlunden is a popular meeting place in Vaxjo. Breakfast is served daily, as well as lunch and dinner Mondays to Saturdays. In the bar/cafe section you can either take a snack or just a drink or an espresso. Whilst sitting here you have a feeling of sitting directly on top of Kungsgatan which leads up to Stortorget. In the summertime we aslo have a large pleasant out-door serving area.
- The Bishops Arms: In our own Bishop's Arms Pub you will feel like you are in London. It is a genuine Pub environment with simple but delicious meals. We offer a hundred different beers and just as many whiskies, and you will probably find your favorite here.
- Grace: When the night closes in over Vaxjo, Grace is the natural choice. Here you can dance and mingle with guests from the area. Opening hours are Fridays and Saturdays until 02:00.
