Originally built by Howard Hughes in the late 40s, El Mirasol Villas has been a Palm Springs hotel for gay men since 1975 and is located approximately three miles from Palm Springs International Airport. Walled and gated, the private hotel is in the Warm Sands area, blocks from downtown Palm Springs, gay nightlife, shopping, and gourmet dining. Hotel amenities include the two clothing-optional pools, eucalyptus steam room, 10-man Jacuzzi and outdoor shower, outdoor mist cooling throughout the property, and public lanai with fireplace. The hotel also offers a daily complimentary breakfast, a Saturday poolside barbeque luncheon, refreshments all day, a free video library, and high-speed wireless Internet access. All rooms feature custom-designed furnishings, shutters, and French doors. Garden paths lead to the bungalows and studios. El Mirasol Villas requires a credit card and valid ID at the time of check in. Rates are based on double occupancy. Charges for extra adults may apply and will be due directly to the hotel.
