General information: The hotel was opened in July 1995 and is set on a 5-km private beach which is sheltered by a coral reef. It covers an area of over one and a half million square meters and is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation with mangrove swamps. Location: Bahia Principe San Juan is located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, 70 km from Puerto Plata airport (60 minutes by car) and a comfortable distance from cities such as Cabarete and Sos?a and Puerto Plata. Area details: It has number of tropical gardens which are the setting for little lanes along which guests can walk while enjoying the sea breeze and the freshness of the natural surroundings. Rooms: All rooms are fully-equipped standard doubles; our spacious rooms have two beds or a double bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, fully equipped bathroom, hairdryer, cable and satellite television, direct outside telephone line, mini bar and balcony or terrace. *****Hurricane Policy for Bahia Principe Clubs Resorts***** *If a storm has been declared a Hurricane Category 1 or higher the following policies and procedures will apply: (This is NOT applicable to Tropical Storms) If the guest feels the need to leave only within the time period mentioned above KIPPIN (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) will issue a hotel credit for travel up to the end of the year for the number of unused nights. I the guests are stranded due to flight cancellations or airport closures, a distressed rate of 50% will apply. If arriving guests are unable to arrive due to the flight cancellations one of the following will be offered: 1.Guest may arrive arrive after the storm passes for the same number of nights without an increase in the nightly rate, (always subject to availability) 2.If the resort is damaged and remains closed for an extended period of time, guests may elect to stay at one of the other Bahia Principe Resorts at the same rate and in a comparable category. 3. KIPPIN (mentioned above) will authorize a full (hotel only)creditfor travel up to one year and will guarantee the original rate (and category, if available) regardless of travel dates, expect for the following the blackout dates. (Dec 20, 2008 through Jan 2, 2009; January 15, through March 15, 2009; December 20, 2009 through January 2, 2010 and January 15 through March 15, 2010. 4.If KIPPIN authorize that all arriving guests are to reschedule until after the storm has passed the hotel will offer a full credit voucher for travel up to one year, exceptions to the black out dates mentioned above. 5. Arriving guests who decide not to follow or accept these procedures, will do so with the implicit understanding that no compensation will be forthcoming for any disruption on services and/or inclusions which may occur as a result of the storm.
