On the southern border of Algonquin Park, Ontario, this unique, rustic, wilderness lodge is located beside a private 30 acre beaver pond and a cascading waterfall. It is a wilderness enthusiasts dream with plenty to do and see, in both summer and winter. With over 60 km of groomed wilderness trails inside Algonquin Park, the Eco-Lodge is a great place for hiking, nature walks, fishing, wildflower exploration and birding, canoeing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. For kids, the Eco-Lodge is a dream come true. Guaranteed fishing (they're small, but still fun to catch), lots of frogs, salamanders, butterflies, trails to explore, canoes and water toys. We also do wolf howls around the bonfire, can teach them about the constellations on clear nights, or show them how to identify animal tracks. The Eco-Lodge is ideal for those wishing to experience the Canadian wilderness without having to *rough it*. It is designed to give you the best wilderness experience possible, while minimizing our impact on the environment. In fact, your experience begins with a leisurely 20 minute, 2.5 km, walk or cycle through Algonquin Park to reach our front doors. Don*t worry - your luggage will be transferred for you! The Eco-Lodge is beautifully secluded amidst remote Algonquin forests, where even hydro lines and telephone poles can't reach - there is no electricity or phone service. It is so secluded that we actually have our own resident wolf pack! So, when we do a wolf howl program around the bonfire at night, we have a good chance of hearing the wolves howl back in response! With a combination of alternative energy sources, the Eco-Lodge still provides all the finer comforts, such as indoor shared plumbing, 15 private rooms, hot showers, propane lanterns, and even an outdoor wood-fired hot tub and sauna! It is the perfect place to spend a few days while experiencing real Canadian wilderness. Please note that during winter months the lodge is only open on weekends, so arrivals only on Fridays and Saturdays. Winter months are December through April.
