| Svalbard
One of the worlds last unspoilt wilderness areas, the Svalbard archipelago lies north of Norway less than 1,200 km from the North Pole. This beautiful Arctic Kingdom of fjords and glaciers is an exotic, untamed and unique travel destination.
Experience the fascination of the midnight sun in summer and the magnificent show of the Northern lights in winter. In Longyearbyen, the capital, the sun doesn't sink below the horizon for 123 days in summer, whereas in winter, the sun will stay below the horizon for 110 days straight.
Around half the territory has protected status - the sole domain of a wonderfully rich population of Arctic wildlife including polarbears, polarfoxes, seals, walrus, whales and Svalbard reindeer. Although the native flora and fauna are hardy this is a delicate ecology, so all excursions and activities take place on nature's terms and great care is taken not to damage the environment.
Longyearbyen boasts the ideal location for leisure or for conference visits with good restaurants, a homely atmosphere and well-stocked shops all within the inspirational setting of the magical polar scenery. On Svalbard you can enjoy life to the fullest as well as find peace and quiet.
